Approach

Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube Music are the top three most used music streaming apps.

These major streaming platforms currently focus on delivering individual songs to passive listeners, which often prevents a deeper connection with the artist.

Rather than presenting users with an endless catalogue, Muse creates a clear path from discovering an artist to exploring their music and continuing onto something new.

Before developing the visual direction, I mapped out the core screens and content hierarchy to establish a straightforward path through the experience.

Design

Muse needed a visual identity that felt energetic and contemporary without adding to the complexity of music discovery. I combined a dark foundation with vibrant colour, expressive imagery and geometric typography to create a bold interface while keeping the hierarchy clear and easy to navigate.

UI Language

Rounded containers and generous spacing create a friendly, approachable interface, while high contrast between the dark foundation, white typography and vibrant gradients keeps important actions and content visually prominent.

These principles became the foundation for the final Muse experience — balancing expressive visual design with a clear structure across desktop and mobile.

A dark foundation keeps the interface focused on the music and artwork, while electric purple and blue introduce energy and create a distinctive visual signature.

Typography: Sora

Sora was chosen for its geometric, contemporary character. Its clean forms complement Muse's bold visual identity while maintaining strong readability across both desktop and mobile interfaces.
